Finally I get to drive ytd. =) Drove my parents to Boon keng area for lunch. But judging from my driving, I need more practice with the car cause I'm still not familiar with it. After that i drove home to take some stuff and went to Nafa to pick up darling and my brother before going to Expo to attend First Youth For Peace Interfaith Symposium. George Yeo, minister for foreign affairs was the guest of honour and there were also other different religious leaders. Everyone received a copy of a book: 180° Yearning for Peace.
If study ends up robbing people of their humanity, its purpose is completely destroyed. Studying is important, of course, but the real purpose of study is to enrich oneself as a human being, to make valuable contributions that will benefit many people. -
Daisaku IkedaI find this quote very meaningful. Many of us study for the sake of study and because our parents want us to study. However, have we ever thought what is the purpose of studying? Some people keep on going for higher degrees because they want to enrich themselves with more knowledge. But if they apply their knowledge in the wrong field, then the purpose of studying is destroyed. An example would be bioterrorism. The use of anthrax to harm human beings. Who would ever think of such a cruel way to destroy life? Perhaps these people are trying to convey their anger or disagreements through such methods. But is this the only method? Resorting to violence would not solve problem. Everyone wishes for world peace and harmony, yet these people are going against it. In order to have world peace, we must start with our lifes first. Peace within family and friends. Eventually it would lead to the society, country and globally. Though it takes a long time to achieve, it doesn't mean that it can't be achieved.Okay. I think I'm kinda inspired by the talk. =)
